Beaufort County schools going to remote learning Thursday and Friday due to Hurricane Ian
Beaufort County School District will have e-learning and remote work days on Thursday and Friday due to “the inclement forecast weather associated with Hurricane Ian.”
They will be doing so “assuming electrical and internet utilities are functioning,” the district said.
“We will work with families as needed given circumstances that may arise,” Candace Bruder, a district spokeswoman said.
Extracurricular activities and after-school activities will be canceled on both days. District buildings will be closed.
The district announced closures Wednesday in a press release. They are not stopping instruction to avoid implementing make-up days during winter break.
“Please know that BSCD doesn’t make these decisions lightly,” Bruder said in a news release.
In their decision they considered the wind projections released Wednesday for Thursday and Friday.
“We have many factors to consider, especially today’s projected high winds that prohibit the safe travel of school buses,” she said in the release.
School buses ran normally Wednesday.
