Hilton Head communities in need of debris removal asked to attend meetings

Private Hilton Head Island communities currently not receiving storm debris pickup from the town are asked to attend meetings set for early next week, according to a town release.

Property owner associations requesting town assistance following Hurricane Matthew can learn if they qualify during the following two meetings to be held at Town Hall, One Town Center Court:

▪  Monday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m.

▪  Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved debris cleanup by the town for some private communities, but debris removal from other private property will be considered by the federal agency on a case-by-case basis, the release said.

Private communities approved by the agency include:

▪  Hilton Head Plantation

▪  Indigo Run Plantation

▪  Leamington

▪  Long Cove Club

▪  Palmetto Dunes Resort

▪  Palmetto Hall Plantation

▪  Port Royal Plantation

▪  Sea Pines Plantation

▪  Shipyard Plantation

▪  Spanish Wells

▪  Wexford Plantation

The town will follow guidance from the federal agency and town codes when determining if it will help other private communities, the release said.
