Update: Water boil lifted for more Hilton Head Island residents

Customers of Hilton Head Public Service District and South Island Public Service District are no longer required to boil water as of Thursday afternoon.

Both districts said tests have shown that water quality is good.

Water pressure in the Hilton Head Public Service District still is at 50 percent of the normal pressure, said Pete Nardi, the district’s general manager. He said customers should limit water use until normal pressure has been restored.

There are still potentially hundreds of broken lines; however, testing shows that water quality at the source is fine, Nardi said.

An email from Kelley Ferda, general manager for the South Island Public Service District, said its customers should limit water use to decrease flow to sewer systems.

Boil orders still remain in effect for Hilton Head residents who are provided water by the Broad Creek Public Service District.
