Confusion over who can flush or not in Hilton Head Plantation remained as of late morning Thursday.
A notice went out to Hilton Head Plantation owners telling them everyone was allowed to flush. But Hilton Head Island Public Service district officials are saying not everyone can flush at this time.
“Hilton Head plantation was the most banged up in regards to pump station damage,” said Pete Nardi, Hilton Head Public Service District general manager.
Inspections of the Deerfield, Bear Lake and Hickory Forest areas are still underway, Nardi said. He said these areas should not flush until officials know more about the situation there.

Every other region of Hilton Head Plantion is clear to flush but should still use water sparingly, Nardi said. This includes turning off irrigation systems, avoiding baths and laundry, and only using water when absolutely necessary, he said.
