Hazardous weather conditions are expected for the Hilton Head area this afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm system is making its way across South Carolina and Georgia.

Showers and possible thunderstorms are expected before 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

Expect wind gusts of up to 35 mph, according to the NWS.

AccuWeather, a private-sector weather forecaster, predicts that heavy rain and thunderstroms will arrive on Hilton Head around 2:45 p.m. The storm will ease up around 4:30 p.m., and the rain will stop completely shortly after 5 p.m, AccuWeather predicts.
