After inspections, Georgia’s Department of Transportation has reopened coastal bridges that were closed as a precautionary measure ahead of Hurricane Idalia.

This includes the Talmadge Memorial Bridge on U.S. 17 that spans the Savannah River. The bridge had closed at 2 p.m. Wednesday because of expected high winds related to the storm.

Additionally, the Houlihan bridge on Georgia 25 has been reopened for maritime traffic, according to a news release from the highway agency.
