Frost could soon blanket Beaufort County. Here’s when the cold is expected to let up
Evening temperatures in Beaufort County are going to plummet to the mid-30s through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service Charleston office.
While the service has already issued a hazardous weather outlook because of the incoming cold temperatures, the Lowcountry could also see frost advisories into Thursday morning
“Light winds and clear skies could aid in the development of frost,” the weather outlook noted.
Meteorologist Brittany MacNamara said Tuesday morning that the chilly air, after a recent cold front, is coming from high pressure moving into the area, which is bringing Canadian cold air with it.
She assured that as spring approaches, fluctuating temperatures are typical for the Lowcountry. However, Tuesday and Wednesday’s highs are “running about 10 to 15 below normal for this time of year,” MacNamara said.
While Beaufort County will warm up back to normal temperatures Thursday with a high in the low 70s, a cold front coming Saturday will send another chill through the area Sunday.
