When is the chill in Beaufort County letting up? Here’s what to expect this week
While South Carolina wasn’t hit with standstill blizzard conditions or iced-over roads like other parts of the nation, the past few days of bitter cold and even more biting wind chill have been brutal.
Holiday flights were delayed or canceled. A gale watch and wind advisory set in Thursday and let up Christmas morning. Collectively, in Jasper and Beaufort counties, thousands were without power.
And maybe a disappointment for some, but as predicted, a White Christmas wasn’t in sight. Though, according to poweroutage.us, nearly all outages in the Lowcountry had been rectified by Christmas morning.
Beginning midweek, the Lowcountry will be out of its winter slump — just in time for a warmer New Year’s Eve.
Temperatures aren’t predicted to drop below-freezing in Beaufort County starting Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. But ringing in the holiday may not come with the clear skies you wished for.
