Another stormy day: Expect afternoon rains in Beaufort Co. Tuesday ahead of cold front

Umbrellas and raincoats are the price we have to pay today for beautiful weather later this week.

Beaufort County’s forecast shows widespread rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday starting around 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service Charleston.

The storms precede a cold front that will drop temperatures to the mid- to low 70s for the remainder of the week.

Severe thunderstorms are possible east of I-95 this afternoon and evening, and there is a possibility for an isolated tornado, according to the weather service.

With those storms will come heavy rainfall. The rain is expected around Tuesday night’s high tide, which means coastal flooding will be aided by the high water, especially in Charleston.

Beaufort County can expect to see around an inch of rain, and the worst of the weather is expected between 2 and 10 p.m.
