400 report power loss in Beaufort County. Where and when electricity will be back

More than 400 Dominion Energy customers are reporting power loss Monday in Beaufort County, according to a company outage map.

The bulk of the power loss is in Okatie, where 430 customers near the Oldfield Mews apartment complex off Highway 170 lost power around 9:30 a.m.

That outage is due to a Monday morning wind gust that took down power lines, Dominion Energy spokesman Paul Fischer said. Power in Okatie should be restored between 2 and 3:30 p.m., Fischer said.

Less than 20 have reported loss in both Sheldon and Ridgeland, according to the map.

According to Palmetto Electric Cooperative spokesman Tray Hunter, 36 customers on Cherry Point Road in Okatie lost power Monday morning due to a falling tree or tree limb. Their power has been restored after three hours, Hunter said.

The power failures come after a week of heavy storms in the Lowcountry. The forecast for Monday and Tuesday in Beaufort County is sunny with some wind, according to the National Weather Service.
