Get out your umbrellas! Beaufort Co. could see 4 to 6 inches of rain this weekend

At least it’s not snow?

Beaufort County is likely to have a wet start to the holiday week due to a low pressure system moving east from the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

The worst of it is likely to hit the area from Sunday evening to Monday morning, the weather service says.

Beaufort County could see between 4 and 6 inches of rain between Saturday night and Monday.

Along with the heavy rains, expect high winds this weekend.

Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts from 35 to 40 mph could occur as the low pressure system makes its approach, the weather service says.

“Winds of this magnitude can down small to moderate sized trees, especially as grounds saturate with heavy rains. Isolated power outages could occur,” the weather service said.
