The South Carolina State Fair wants you to enter its 2016 competitions
The South Carolina State Fair announced Friday the official call for exhibit entries for 2016. The fair runs from October 12-23 at the Fairgrounds on Rosewood Drive and George Rogers Boulevard in Columbia.
The fair, which enjoys more than half a million visitors each year, is asking gardeners, bakers, farmers and artisans to enter competitions to win a State Fair blue ribbon and part of the more-than $300,000 offered in premiums and awards.
All competitions require pre-registration, which is open through Sept. 1.
Competitive exhibit categories include
- fine art,
- student art,
- agriculture,
- flowers, and
- home and crafts.
These particular competitions are limited to South Carolina residents and students attending a South Carolina school of higher learning.
The livestock categories are open to anyone. Those exhibit categories are:
- cattle,
- dairy goat,
- sheep,
- smallstock,
- swine,
- youth horse, and
- 4-H/FFA meat goat.
