Deputies searching for I-20 shooter who fired on cars from Lexington County bridge
Deputies are searching for an unknown person or persons who fire shots at vehicles traveling east on Interstate 20 in Lexington County early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened overnight, in the early morning hours, according to sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Adam Myrick. Gunshots struck multiple vehicles, Myrick said.
Investigators know of one person who was shot, Myrick said. After being taken to a local hospital, that person is in stable condition.
The shots came from the Quattlebaum Road bridge over I-20, in a remote western edge of the county in the Pond Branch area, Myrick said.
Myrick encouraged anyone in the area who noticed anything out of the ordinary to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
“We are hopeful someone might have seen or heard anything diferent or unusual,” he said.
At this point, investigators have not determined if there was one shooter or multiple, and cannot release what type of firearm was used.
