SC Gov. Nikki Haley responds to Donald Trump criticism: ‘Bless your heart’

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign have taken to Twitter to criticize S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley, who is supporting Sen. Marco Rubio in the primary.

Haley has been campaigning with Rubio and has urged Trump to release his tax returns. In her State of the Union response, she had warned Republicans to resist “the siren call of the angriest voices,” a line seen as a swipe at Trump, who won last Saturday’s South Carolina Republican primary. But she also said “there is more than enough blame to go around” in Washington.

On Twitter, Trump pointed to video footage from 2012 where Haley is asked whether Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, should release his tax returns. “I think those are distractions,” she said.

Trump retweeted his campaign manager calling Haley a “liability for Rubio” because of her earlier view on releasing tax returns.

Trump later tweeted: “The people of South Carolina are embarrassed by Nikki Haley.”

In response, Haley tweeted: “@realDonaldTrump, Bless your heart.”
