Two women were killed in a deadly crash after the car they were traveling in overturned on S.C. 22, authorities said.
Shykimia Lashaye Holman, 27, and Brianna Michelle Johnson, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.
The women were found upside down in the vehicle in several feet of water in a ditch, Hendrick said. Both women died of asphyxiation by drowning inside of the vehicle, he said.

The fatal crash happened about 9 p.m. on S.C. 22 about five miles east of North Myrtle Beach, Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The two women were traveling west on S.C. 22 in a 2011 four-door Honda when the driver swerved left, over corrected, and the car overturned, resulting in the two fatalities.
Collins said troopers haven’t been able to determine if the two were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The SCHP is still investigating.
