3 suspects arrested in Sumter after high-speed chase, home invasion

Three men were arrested following a high-speed chase and home invasion in Sumter County Sunday.

Brandon Ernest Ingram, 25, OBrian Anthony Spann, 29, and Cory Emanuel White, 28, all of Sumter have been charged with first degree burglary, according to department spokesman Braden Bunch. Ingram also faces charges for reckless driving, failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension.

Deputies observed a blue Lincoln traveling about 90 miles per hour about 5:20 p.m. Sunday and initiated a traffic stop, Bunch said. The driver led deputies on a high-speed chase along Tindal Road and Old Manning Road until the driver intentionally exited the road in order to avoid law enforcement.

Residents helped deputies by indicating the direction in which the suspect had fled, which took them to a home in the 300 block of Seminole Road, Bunch said. One of the home’s residents flagged down officers and told them where the three suspects had entered his home without permission.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the home, Bunch said. The suspects soon surrendered.

The incident remains under investigation, and more charges are possible, Bunch said.
