Horry County school janitor charged with indecent exposure involving first-grader

A Little River man remains jailed on $30,000 bond Monday after he was arrested on an indecent exposure charge in connection with an incident at an Horry County school.

Darrell Lee Rice, 57, of Little River, who worked as a janitor at Waterway Elementary School, was charged Saturday with indecent exposure, authorities said.

Rice remains held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to jail records.

Horry County police were called to the school Friday where they learned a 6-year-old girl had reported Rice exposed himself to her, Lt. Raul Denis said. The incident was captured on the school’s surveillance system.

Teal Harding, Horry County Schools spokeswoman, said late Monday that Rice was terminated.
