Two Horry County women charged after police chase from North Carolina to Conway
Two Horry County women were charged with running from police after a chase that began Monday night in North Carolina and ended in Conway, authorities said.
Seewillow Jackson, 23, of North Myrtle Beach and Shatisha Jackson, 32, of Atlantic Beach were each charged with failure to stop for blue lights and siren, according to police. Seewillow Jackson also was charged with simple possession of marijuana and an unrelated failure to appear.
Both women are being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending bond hearings, according to jail records.
Deputies with the Columbus County, N.C., sheriff’s office tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to stop, according to a police report. Deputies pursued the vehicle, a silver Kia, into Horry County on S.C. 905 towards Conway.
Horry County police assisted the deputies and pursued the vehicle to Conway, which included speeds that exceeded 100 mph, Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said.
The women evaded police during the chase about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Denis said. But authorities caught up to them after police responded to a call about 1 a.m. Tuesday of a car stuck in a field off Brown’s Way Shortcut, according to the report.
The women ran from police, but were later found in some woods near Cates Bay Road., but were caught within a couple hours after their vehicle got stuck in a field, Denis said.
Additional charges are expected to filed in the case.
