Police: Rock Hill man swallowed crack cocaine while in custody

ROCK HILL A Rock Hill man allegedly swallowed small amounts of crack cocaine after being arrested for possession of marijuana, a Rock Hill police report states.

Rock Hill police arrived at a Blackmon Road residence Friday afternoon in reference to subjects using drugs, the police report states.

When James Henry Dennis, 43, opened the door, police reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence.

With a consent by Dennis to search his house, police said they found a small bag of marijuana, a crack pipe and other drug paraphernalia. Dennis, as well as Jennifer McCall, 30, of McConnells, and Linnie Talford, 52, of Rock Hill, were arrested and charged with violation of drug law.

As officers transported the subjects to the Rock Hill Jail, they reported hearing a banging coming from inside the back seat. Dennis was reportedly seen with his head down in the floor board chewing on something from his right shoe, the report states.

Police say that they squeezed his cheeks and Dennis spit out what appeared to be small amounts of crack cocaine.

When asked how much he swallowed, Dennis said 4 or 5 amounts of crack cocaine, the police report states.

Dennis was charged with possession of crack cocaine first offense. He was transported to the York County Detention Center and held on a $8,000 bond.

McCall and Talford were charged with possession of marijuana first offense. Talford made $600 bond, and McCall is still at the Rock Hill Jail on a $400 bond.
