Two dozen arrested in Columbia for trafficking, supplying street gangs with drugs
Two dozen individuals were arrested and made initial appearances in federal court Friday on charges of trafficking, money laundering and supplying local street gangs with drugs, officials say.
The defendants were arrested over the past two days as part of an ongoing investigation by the Columbia Violent Gangs Task Force and the FBI that began more than a year ago, U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles said in a statement released Friday.
The 24 defendants were charged with conspiracy to traffic in cocaine/crack cocaine and money laundering, Nettles said.
