Louis Vuitton goods are gone & woman’s in jail, but not for robbery, SC cops say

A woman was arrested after Louis Vuitton items were not found inside a vehicle after it had been towed, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. She wasn’t charged with stealing the luxury brand goods, SLED said in a news release.

Rather, 21-year-old Anderson resident Timya Rai Davis was charged with presenting a false claim for insurance payment (value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000) and forgery (value less than $10,000), according to the release.

On March 29, 2025, Davis “knowingly and willfully” submitted a false claim for an insurance payment to State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, arrest warrants show.

Davis submitted a forged receipt from Louis Vuitton, valued at $3,349.56, to State Farm, according to the arrest warrants.

She submitted the claim after a collision where her vehicle had to be towed, arrest warrants show. In the claim, David reported to State Farm that personal items she purchased from Louis Vuitton were missing from her vehicle after it was returned, according to the arrest warrants.

During an interview, Davis admitted to forging the receipt, “with the intent to obtain an undeserved economic advantage but was denied payment,” the arrest warrants say.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance asked SLED to lead an investigation, and Davis was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center, according to the release.

The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance.

If convicted on the felony false claim and felony forgery charges, Davis faces a maximum punishment of 5 years in prison and a fine for each count, according to South Carolina law.
