Which SC grocery store has the best deal on full Thanksgiving meals? Here’s our price check

The marathon of food holidays is right around the corner.

With Thanksgiving just a week away, some may have already started holiday meal prep — testing recipes, making grocery lists and clearing out the pantry and refrigerator to make room for ingredients (or leftovers).

But the thought of making and serving a Thanksgiving meal may be too much for some, or take away from time spent with loved ones.

An easier option that’s begun to grow in popularity is premade meal bundles from your go-to grocery store or local restaurant, offering ingredients folks need to assemble traditional sides and desserts.

Here’s a look at Thanksgiving meal bundles and curated shopping lists available at popular South Carolina grocery stores this year, zeroing in on cost, items and when you should place an order.

Grocery stores are listed in alphabetical order; grocery stores that require a membership for shopping were not included:

So, which SC grocery store offers the best deal?

Each location varies in meal options and the number of people it can serve. Here’s a look at which location offers the best value depending on your table size from this list:

For 4 to 6 people

For households feeding four to six people, Target offers the most affordable option. Its $20 meal feeds four people and includes a frozen turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, gravy, bread and frozen corn.

Kroger also offers a meal in this size range, priced at $75 for four to six servings. That puts the cost between $12.50 and $18.75 per person, depending on how many it feeds.

For 8 people

When it comes to meals designed for eight people, Publix provides the strongest value. The $70 complete turkey dinner feeds eight, coming out around $8.75 per person.

For 10 or more

For families feeding 10 or more, Lidl offers the best deal among large-group options. Its holiday meal starts at $36 and serves up to 10 people, averaging about $3.60 per person.

Competitors like Aldi, Food Lion and Walmart trail close behind, with their meal bundles starting at around $40 for a group of 10.
