Manhunt for teenager who shot his brother is underway, South Carolina sheriff says
A search is underway for a South Carolina teenager who’s wanted for attempted murder and other crimes after his brother was shot, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Kerrington Kala White, a 19-year-old Bethune resident, is also wanted for possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime and grand larceny of a motor vehicle, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday in a news release.
The sheriff’s office said it believes White shot his brother inside a Calvert Drive home at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That’s near U.S. 1 in Bethune.
Information about a motive for the gunfire was not available.
Following the shooting, White drove away in a red 2002 Honda Accord that he stole from a residence near the shooting, according to the release. The stolen car’s South Carolina license plate reads “9150SB,” the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded to the home and rendered medical aid to the victim before he was taken by helicopter to an area hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
White’s brother is in serious condition and remains at the hospital, according to the release. Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
