One person was killed and another was injured Monday in a crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision happened at about 11:30 a.m. in Orangeburg County, Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover said.

A 2019 Chevrolet pickup was driving north on U.S. 301/Five Chop Road, and near the intersection with Webber Farm Road the truck hit a person who was standing on the side of the road, according to Glover. That’s about a mile from Exit 154 on Interstate 26.

No other injures were reported.

There was no word if the driver was wearing a seat belt, or will face any criminal charges.

Information about what caused the pickup to collide with the pedestrian was not available, and the Highway Patrol did not say if the crash remains under investigation.
