Body found behind storage building in SC sparks investigation
An investigation is underway after a South Carolina woman’s body was found Tuesday, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Darryl Ables said 23-year-old North Augusta resident Destany Hazel was “the victim.” Information about what Hazel was a victim of was not available.
An autopsy has been scheduled in Newberry to determine Hazel’s cause of death, Ables said in a news release.
At about 10:15 a.m., her body was discovered behind a storage building at a residence in the 1000 block of Womrath Road in North Augusta, according to the release. That’s near Interstate 520, not far from the Georgia-South Carolina state line and the Savannah River.
No arrests have been reported by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating Hazel’s death along with the coroner’s office.
