A $10 scratch-off ticket led to a $300,000 payout for one South Carolina man.

Sometimes, seeing is believing.

In the case of a Greenville, South Carolina, man, he had to reach for his glasses after scratching off his $10 lottery ticket.

The man told lottery officials that he “looked at the ticket many, many times” before he decided he needed a clearer view. He grabbed his glasses and a bright light to check the ticket one more time.

That’s when he saw the $300,000 prize.

“I was in a fog for a couple of days,” he told lottery officials.

He only believed he had won the top prize, beating the 1 in 900,000 odds, when he went to cash in the ticket.

His $300,000 lottery win was the last top prize in the Red Cherry Tripler game, according to lottery officials.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
