5 places SC residents want to visit most in 2023 and how much the trips might cost

South Carolina residents are most wanting to travel to the Bahamas this year, according to InsureMyTrip, a website that helps users compare plans and providers to find the right travel insurance for their trips.

The top five travel destinations that South Carolina residents wanted to visit, according to the study, include:

  1. Bahamas

  2. The United States (within the country)

  3. Mexico

  4. The United Kingdom

  5. Spain

Regardless of where you may want to travel to, the study shows that you should expect to pay more than you would have in previous years.

Between January to June of last year, the average cost of a trip was $4,901. For the same period in 2023, travelers can expect to pay an average $6,422, according to data from InsureMyTrip following the study. That is a $1,521 increase.

Given the price increase for the cost of travel, many travelers opt for travel insurance.

A travel insurance policy can help protect your financial investment into your vacation or trip of choice. It may also help address any other concerns you may have while traveling this year, according to experts at InsureMyTrip.

Information gathered for the study was based on travel insurance policies sold through InsureMyTrip to these given destinations. Meaning, the majority of South Carolina residents purchasing travel insurance through InsureMyTrip.com are purchasing policies for a trip to the Bahamas and these four other destinations the most.

Data was established for pricing as each trip is based on where travelers are planning to go, when they wish to travel, how much their total trip costs and more.
