Check your wallet, a six-digit winning lottery ticket was sold in South Carolina

A $200,000 winning lottery ticket was recently sold in the Midlands, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

Now the search is on for the person who bought the Palmetto Cash 5 game at a gas station/convenience store, lottery officials said Monday in a news release.

The winning numbers — 4, 16, 26, 27, 33, and Power-Up: 2 — were drawn Sunday night. It is the only top-prize winning ticket in the game’s past four drawings.

The winning ticket was sold at the S M Mart in the Mobil gas station at 840 U.S. 1 in Lugoff. That’s in an area of Kershaw County near the Wateree River that’s densely packed with restaurants and retail businesses.

The ticket buyer bought the Powered-Up option for $1, which doubled the prize to $200,000, according to the release.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize, according to lottery officials.

The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of eight states — along with Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.

The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 878,399-to-1, according to the release.

“Sign the back of your ticket and put it in a safe location until you’re ready to come forward to claim the prize,” lottery officials said.

S M Mart will receive a commission of $2,000 for selling the winning ticket when it is turned into lottery officials.

In addition to the six-figure jackpot, lottery officials said more than 4,300 ticket holders also won prizes following Sunday’s Palmetto Cash 5 drawing.
