With how much rain has been scattering over the state in recent weeks, many may be wishing for a reprieve from the puddles and would rather opt for some sunshine instead.

Wait no more.

The ‘ideal day’ differs for many, but the most perfect day of the year was predicted by one study to be landing this week.

The most perfect day in the Palmetto State for 2022 is predicted to be Thursday, according to research conducted by Family Destinations Guide. This date, landing on July 21, was chosen from an average of the following data: the date with the most predicted sunshine - June 6; the date with the best temperature - Oct. 6; and the longest day of the year - June 21.

While any day is a good day to explore South Carolina, a sunny day certainly makes more adventures possible. Whether you choose to spend your time at the beach, a local farmer’s market, hiking, walking, lounging by the pool, staying active or even birdwatching, there are many ways to enjoy good weather in the Palmetto State.

“Being outside in nature is relaxing, reducing our stress, cortisol levels, muscle tension and heart rates – all of which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease,” according to the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The data from Family Destinations Guide is based off of an analysis of 36 years of data records from WeatherSpark, which reveal the date on which each state can expect the best weather.

The nation’s data can be compared state-by-state in the company’s interactive map.
