Collision blocks traffic on interstate running through Columbia

A collision was blocking traffic on a major interstate running through Columbia Sunday morning.

Two eastbound lanes on Interstate 20 were closed following a crash near the 71 mile marker, the South Carolina Department of Transportation said on Twitter.

That’s in Richland County near Exit 71, to North Main Street, also known as U.S. 21.

The wreck occurred just before 11 a.m., and no injuries were reported, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Fire engines and police cars were among the emergency vehicles on the scene.

Information on the number of vehicles involved was not available, but there were at least two cars pulled off to the right shoulder of I-20, SCDOT cameras showed.

All lanes of the highway were reopened after 11:30 a.m., SCDOT tweeted.
