One killed in crash with tractor trailer parked on Midlands road, SC cops say
One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on a Midlands road Saturday night, South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The collision involved a 2003 Hyundai and a 2016 International tractor trailer, Cpl. Sonny Collins said.
The wreck happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Boatswain Court, according to Collins. That is about 60 southeast of Columbia.
The driver of the Hyundai ran off the left side of the road and smashed into the 18-wheel truck, Highway Patrol reported.
The semi was legally parked when it was hit by the car, Collins said.
The driver of the Hyundai was not wearing a seat belt and was killed in the collision, according to Collins.
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office will publicly identify the driver after notifying the next of kin.
No other injuries were reported by Highway Patrol.
