A motorcycle slammed into a garbage truck, killing two riders in North Carolina, officials said.

State troopers said the truck was making a stop on its route when a motorcycle failed to slow down and ran into the back of it.

That’s when two people were thrown off the bike. Officials said both of them died at the scene of the crash, which was reported at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4.

Master Trooper Ned Moultrie told McClatchy News the incident happened along N.C. Highway 152 west in Rowan County, which is northeast of Charlotte.

No other injuries were reported, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol as of early May 4 hadn’t shared the names or ages of those who died.
