Jail records say he lives in Charlotte, and show additional charges for assault on a female and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The couple was found the morning of Jan. 11, in a car down an embankment along the 1400 block Atando Avenue, investigators said.

Investigators were led to the scene after someone called 911 about 6:50 a.m. to report seeing the vehicle just east of Statesville Avenue and Interstate 77, according to a news release.

“I don’t know what they need but I’m coming up Atando and I see a car down there in the embankment ... I can’t walk down there to see what’s going on,” the caller said on the 911 call.

The caller said it was dark out and but could see a “bright light at the bottom of the hill.”

Police found the two dead, both with a gunshot wound to the head, and .40 caliber discharged cartridge casings inside the vehicle, a Range Robver, according to Observer news partner WBTV.

WBTV reported that an affidavit said that the home where Joseph and Shannon’s cellphones were last pinged was searched after their killing. The document also said the front door was unlocked, the home looked ransacked and had blood in several rooms and the couple’s cellphones were found in the front yard.

CMPD says the arrest of Connor included help from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office and CMPD Gang Unit.
