Recall of food products that might have glass now includes Walmart and Kroger
Ajinomoto Foods’ recall of chicken fried rice that might have glass has been expanded to 36 million pounds of chicken and pork fried rice, ramen and shu mai dumplings over five brands.
Kroger’s store brand, Tai Pei and Ling Ling have been added to Trader Joe’s store brand and Ajinomoto’s brands in the original recall of 3.37 million pounds of chicken fried rice.

Those two products in the original recall have been joined by 16 additional products, listed by the USDA along with their lot numbers, bringing the total tonnage of food products recalled from the United States, Canada and Mexico to 36,987,575 pounds.
In addition to Trader Joe’s and Kroger, Walmart said all of its stores and Sam’s Clubs are affected by this recall. Costco says its members should check for Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese Style Fried Rice, best by Nov. 8, 2025, to Jan. 12, 2027, and Ajinomoto Shoyu Ramen Bowl, best by May 20, 2026, to July 5, 2027.
“The problem was discovered when (Ajinomoto Foods) notified Food Safety and Inspection Service that it received multiple consumer complaints involving glass found in product,” said the USDA’s announcement of Ajinomoto’s recall expansion. “Upon further investigation, the establishment determined that a vegetable source ingredient, specifically carrots, was the likely source of the glass contamination, which also impacted the additional products subject to this expanded recall.”
Inside the USDA mark of inspection on recalled products are the establishment numbers for Ajinomoto’s facilities in Joplin, Missouri (P-47971), or Portland, Orgon (P-18356 or P-18356B).
Return these products to the store for a refund or, at least, throw them out. Questions about this expanded recall can be directed to Ajinomoto Foods at 855-742-5011 or customercare@ajinomotofoods.com.
