Trader Joe’s recalls salad in 18 states for a potentially serious problem
The bad news for some Trader Joe’s shoppers: The chain recalled sesame miso salad with salmon in 18 states.
There’s also good news; The reason for the recall affects a relatively small group of consumers.
Trader Joe’s announced the recall Monday on its website — not on its Instagram or YouTube pages — and the recalled salads’ use-by dates were Monday and Tuesday. So there’s a decent chance affected customers already ate the salad.
The problem: Instead of including a packet of crispy onions, about 500 salads had a sealed packet of Parmesan cheese crumbles. The latter has milk and, because it’s not supposed to be there, that milk isn’t listed among the allergens.
If you have a milk allergy, that’s a problem that can be from annoying to life-threatening, depending on the strength of your allergy.
The recalled salads have use-by dates of April 28 or April 29 and went to North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
If you have the miso salad with salmon and someone with a milk allergy might eat it, throw it out or return it to the store for a refund.
