Filing period opens for Hardeeville special election
The two-week filing period for a Hardeeville special election opened today at noon.
The election to fill a city council seat vacated by Harry Williams, who became the town’s mayor, will be held Aug. 30.
Candidates have until noon July 15 to file.
Information on candidate filings wasn’t immediately available from city officials Friday afternoon.
Voters will be able to cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at four polling places:
- Hardeeville Precinct 1: St. Stephens AME Church, 710 E. Main St., Hardeeville
- Hardeeville Precinct 2: Fisher Chapel United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 445 Church Rd., Hardeeville
- Okatie: St. Luke’s Baptist Church, 3048 Snake Rd., Ridgeland
- Sun City: Sun City Lakehouse on Sgt. William Jasper Boulevard, Hardeeville
Election results will be certified Sept. 1.
