McAvoy files for Hilton Head council seat
One candidate has filed so far for Hilton Head Island Town Council to replace Lee Edwards, who resigned because he moved out of Ward 3.
Ryan McAvoy, who has run three previous times for town office, has filed a candidacy form at Town Hall.
McAvoy, 36, last ran in 2012 for the Ward 3 seat, which travels up Pope Avenue and Palmetto Bay Road, and includes Spanish Wells, Shipyard, Wexford, Long Cove, Yacht Cove, Ashton Cove and Point Comfort neighborhoods.
The filing period ends at 4:30 p.m. Monday. A statement of candidacy can be filed at Town Hall, One Town Center Court, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
To obtain a candidacy form, go to Town Hall or to www.hiltonheadislandsc.gov. Filing costs $35.
