Bill Clinton to make Bluffton campaign stop today
Former President Bill Clinton will visit Bluffton today to campaign for his wife and presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton.
The Get Out the Vote Rally stop is one of several the former president will make across South Carolina leading up to the state’s Democratic primary on Saturday. Bill Clinton also has hosted rallies in Rock Hill, Spartanburg, Winnsboro and Aiken this week, according to a campaign news release.
The Bluffton event, to be held at the Bluffton Recreation Center on Ulmer Road, is open to the public. Participants must register in advance.
“How great it will be to have President Clinton here in Beaufort County,” said Blaine Lotz, a Hillary Clinton supporter and chairman of the Beaufort County Democratic Party. “Democrats are thrilled to hear from the former president on behalf of Hillary … This is going to be a great election campaign for Democrats.”
Hillary Clinton will also campaign in South Carolina this week with eight rallies scheduled from Wednesday to Friday. But she is not scheduled to visit Beaufort County. She has not visited the county this campaign cycle.
She faces Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Saturday’s primary.
