Upcoming forums give Bluffton voters a chance to get to know mayor, council candidates
With Bluffton's municipal election little more than a month away, a pair of public forums are scheduled to give voters a chance to get to know the mayoral and town council candidates a little better.
The League of Women Voters of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Area is hosting a forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Town Hall, 20 Bridge Street.
The Greater Bluffton Republican Club is hosting a forum at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, also at Town Hall.
Two seats on the town council up for grabs.
The candidates for those seats are incumbent councilman Ted Huffman, Oliver Brown, Brendan Downey, Dan Wood, Michael Spears, Eleanor McKinsey-Chandler, Jim Sims, and Harry Lutz.
Councilwoman Karen Lavery is not seeking re-election.
In the race for the town's top elected position, incumbent mayor Lisa Sulka will be challenged by current Beaufort County Councilwoman Cynthia Bensch.
The election is Nov. 3.
