Why should people vote for you? What separates you from your opponent?
I believe the original residents of Hilton Head Island deserve better representation and a stronger voice in matters that affect their daily lives. I have watched the island grow into a thriving tourist destination with the development of most of the area. Beautiful homes, condos, apartments, restaurants and commercial businesses dot the island, and tax revenue has been collected from the beneficial growth. Unfortunately, the people who should benefit the most from this growth have been, in many ways, neglected.
The fact remains that most households do not have water and sewer systems because of the expense to the individual resident. Many elderly and families with children try to survive here, on the land that has been theirs for generations, with little help from the town government -- only road blocks. I want to be the voice of the founders of this beautiful southern paradise and find a way to help them get the basic needs that most residents on the island enjoy and take for granted. I will challenge the Town Council and the citizens of Hilton Head to come together and use some of our tax revenue to benefit the ones that were here first.
