Marie Smalls named new elections director

The Beaufort County Board of Voter Registration and Elections selected Marie Smalls to lead the department.

Smalls has been serving as the office's interim director since July 1, after Scott Marshall left the position to become director of county Parks and Leisure Services.

Smalls has worked as deputy director of the office since 2005 and has worked for the county for 31 years.
