It’s primary election day in Beaufort, Jasper counties. What’s on the ballot

It’s primary election day and the polls are open for 12 hours in South Carolina.

Election polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Beaufort County, only Republicans have contested races, so there is no Democratic primary ballot. Jasper County has a Republican primary ballot for U.S. Senate but only a Democratic ballot for local races.

Here are the offices at stake in Tuesday’s primary elections:

U.S. Senate: Incumbent Lindsey Graham faces Duke Buckner, Michael LaPierre and Joe Reynolds in the Republican primary. The winner faces Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison in November.

Jasper County Coroner: Longtime coroner Martin Sauls III is facing two challengers — former deputy coroner Jeremiah E. Vaigneur III and funeral home operator Willie Patrick Aiken III — in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.
