Election Day: Here’s what you need to know before heading to the polls Tuesday
Beaufort County voters head to the polls Tuesday to elect a new president, as well as to weigh in on a host of state and local races and sales tax referendums from both the county and the school district.
Here are some key pieces of information to keep in mind before you cast your ballot.
When and where can I vote?
Polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. As long as you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.

The Beaufort County Board of Elections office in Bluffton, located at 61B Ulmer Road., and the Beaufort office, located at 15 John Galt Road, are open for in-person absentee voting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m today.
What do I need to bring to the polls?
Voters must present valid photo identification. Any of the following will be accepted:
▪ S.C. drivers license
▪ S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles identification card
▪ S.C. voter registration card with photo
▪ Federal military identification
▪ U.S. passport
If you don’t have any of these and are already registered to vote, go to a county voter registration and elections offices, provide your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number and have your photo taken. You can do this even on Election Day.

▪ Hilton Head Island Town Council Ward 3: David Ames
