Beaufort County to see anti-Trump rallies Saturday as part of national ‘No Kings’ movement
Beaufort County residents and tourists will see Flag Day, President Donald Trump’s birthday and a wave of rallies against him coincide this Saturday.
Three anti-Trump demonstrations are scheduled in Beaufort, Hilton Head and Bluffton as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protests. Organizers say the events are aimed at denouncing what they call Trump’s anti-democratic and unlawful actions, including defiance of court orders and disregard for the Constitution. The rallies, which are organized by Lowcountry Indivisible, Liberal Ladies of the Lowcountry and the Beaufort County Democratic Party, are expected to gather hundreds of participants.
“Every day there’s another example of Donald Trump’s ignoring the Constitution and behaving as if he’s a king,” said Rita Conrad, communications lead for Lowcountry Indivisible in a press release. “He’s not a king. He’s a president and, in America, presidents are bound by the Constitution and the rule of law.”
The rallies follow the nationwide April 50501 movement, which garnered over a thousand people across the county. The turnout was especially striking in Beaufort county — a longtime Republican stronghold in a red state — where protests of this size, according to residents, are rare. In 2024, Trump won 56.6% of the county’s vote compared to 42.1% for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Protest Schedule:
- Beaufort: 1911 Boundary St., 12–1 p.m.
- Hilton Head: 430 William Hilton Pkwy, 12–2 p.m.
- Bluffton: 4819 Bluffton Rd., 4–6 p.m.
The rally in Bluffton will also include a food drive to support local food banks.
