Beaufort County Council will venture out of its normal Beaufort meeting place several times this year in an attempt to “better understand all the citizens’ concerns,” according to a county news release.

Seven of the remaining 17 scheduled meetings this year will take place in different locations throughout the county, including on Hilton Head Island and St. Helena Island, as well as Bluffton and Burton.

“This council must stay connected to the citizens it serves,” Council Chairman Joe Passiment said in the release. “By taking the Council to locations around the county, it will help us better understand all the citizens’ concerns.”

This announcement comes after the council resumed meeting in person late last year.

The majority of the meetings still will be held in the Council Chambers, including on March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug, 15, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Oct. 24 and Dec. 12. The council chambers is located in the County Administrative Building, 100 Ribaut Road.

The council meets twice monthly, and each meeting begins with a caucus at 5 p.m. and regular session at 6 p.m. The meetings are also broadcast to The County Channel and can be replayed on YouTube.
