Bluffton stormwater chief to give keynote address at Sea Grant conference

Kim Jones, Bluffton’s watershed management division manager, will give the keynote address Saturday in Charleston at the International Conference on Shellfish Restoration.

The event, organized by the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium, “brings together researchers, resource managers, shellfish farmers and community restoration practitioners from 20 states and nine countries to talk about progress in the field of shellfish restoration,” according to a news release from the consortium.

Jones’ speech will focus on “the May River Watershed Action Plan, a process that began after the shellfish beds on a portion of the May River were shut down in 2009 because of high levels of pollution, especially fecal coliform,” the release said.
