Beach renourishment has restarted on Hilton Head Island following a delay due to Tropical Storm Hermine.

To prepare for the storm, the project was halted on Aug. 31 by contractor Weeks Marine Inc. The shutdown involved moving the dredge inshore along with moving about 200 pieces of pipeline that extend along the beach.

The $20.7 million project is currently located adjacent to North Forest Beach between Bittern and Heron streets. It will move about three-hundred feet daily toward the Shipyard and Palmetto Dunes areas.
