Abandoned by owner in apartment, 2 Ohio cats in shelter for 257 days need home
Two cats left alone to fend for themselves in Ohio have been waiting for a new, loving owner to come along.
For 257 days.
“Do and Re didn’t ask for this,” the Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Seville said in a June 14 Facebook post. “They didn’t understand why their person moved away and never came back.
“They didn’t know they were being left behind—discarded and forgotten until a landlord found them alone in the empty apartment.”
The tuxedo pair are known to be affectionate, curious and enthusiastic, according to their pet profiles. When brought in, Re (with equal white and black markings) was ill so her personality was more reserved until she was well enough to be paired back up with her sister, Do.
“These two beautiful, bonded sisters have been with us for 8 long months—watching other cats come and go, patiently waiting for someone to choose them,” the shelter said.
“At just over 3.5 years old, Do and Re still have so much love to give. They’re gentle, affectionate, and deeply attached to each other. Where one goes, the other follows—and for that reason, they must be adopted together.”
The duo brings “out the best in each other,” their profiles say, which is why it is ideal that they stay together in a new home.
“We don’t know how they’ll do with kids, dogs, or other cats. What we do know is that they deserve a home where they’ll never be treated like they’re disposable again,” the shelter said.
“They’ve known abandonment. Let them finally know love.”
Seville is about a 40-mile drive south of Cleveland.
