Meet Edith, a tiny black kitten who was rescued by PAWS Chicago with some major health problems, the shelter said in a June 3 Instagram post.

“Edith was brought to our Medical Center one evening in really bad shape. Her eye was close to rupturing, she was dehydrated, underweight, had a respiratory infection, and she was so weak she could barely move,” the shelter said.

“We moved her into an incubator to keep her temperature up, and put her up on fluids. Edith was going to need surgery for her eye, but first we had to get her stable.”

The staff was relentless in keeping Edith alive around the clock and in a short time, had her healthy enough to show off her personality.

“A weekend of syringe feedings and fluids later, Edith was already regaining her strength,” the shelter said. “She was climbing into laps and batting at toys - there was a kitten with a fierce will to live in there! Soon after, she was able to go into surgery and relieve all that pain.”

The shelter also announced in the comment section that Edith was adopted on June 8.
