A sweet dog in Indiana has a face that would make even the grumpiest person smile — and he’s ready to start a new life. He just needs the opportunity.

Meet Gilly, a dog that has come so far in his time at the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers. Now, he’s ready for the warm embrace of a family all his own.

“Gilly has the kind of face you don’t forget, and a heart that’s even more unforgettable. He’s come a long way from when he first arrived, and he’s ready for his next chapter,” the shelter said in a June 8 Facebook post.

“This sweet 5-year-old boy has the most charming cross-eyed gaze you’ve ever seen, and a heart just as big. Found as a stray last August, Gilly was dangerously underweight and had clearly been through a lot. But thanks to the love of his foster family, he’s healed both inside and out.”

Gilly also has a large personality that matches his adorable nature. Currently, he is still with his foster family and getting spoiled with care and affection, his pet profile says.

“Now a healthy 80-pound cuddlebug, Gilly is housebroken, crate-trained, walks beautifully on leash, and absolutely loves spending time at the park or on the trail,” the shelter continues. “He’s lived happily with another dog in foster and plays like a pro, but he’s looking for a feline-free home with adults and older teens.”

His foster mom speaks highly of him.

“Gilly is a great dog… the easiest foster I’ve ever had!” she said, according to his profile.

For more information, visit the shelter’s website.

Fishers is about a 20-mile drive northeast from downtown Indianapolis.
